Raphael AI (raphael.app) makes the boldest promise in free image generation: “No Login Required” and “Unlimited Generations,” on a tool that positions itself as uncensored. We tested it hands-on in October 2026 — same three prompts as five other generators, plus our two filter probes. The uncensored part checked out. The “unlimited” part did not. Here’s what’s real.
Verdict: 7/10
Best for: Instant, no-signup, genuinely unfiltered image generation — the fastest way to test whether “uncensored” matters to you.
Not for: Anyone who believed “unlimited” — the free tap runs dry after 4 images. Also not for quality-first users: 640px watermarked outputs are thumbnails, not assets.
Bottom line: The most frictionless truly-unfiltered generator we verified. Just divide every marketing claim by two. Try Raphael free →
Hands-On Test: 7 Images, 2 Filter Probes
No signup, no email, straight to the prompt box — the first generation started in under 10 seconds. That’s the best onboarding of any tool we tested. Model: Seedream 3.5. Then reality set in:
- Speed: ~50–60 seconds per image, most of it a queue countdown (~58s). The queue is the paywall wearing a waiting room costume.
- Resolution: 640×640 WEBP. Fine for previews, useless for print or hero images.
- Watermark: yes — “raphael.app” on every free download, with an upsell dialog (“Watermark-free download — Upgrade”) blocking the save button each time.
- Quality: 4/5 at its resolution. Composition and prompt adherence are genuinely good; the pixels just aren’t there.

The “Unlimited” Lie
After exactly 2 prompts (4 images), the homepage’s “Unlimited Generations” promise collapsed into: “Today’s free uses are used up. Sign in to get free credits.” Signing in via Google SSO — quick and free — granted 10 credits, which we burned through testing (each generation costs credits; we had 7 left after our full protocol).
To be fair, the anonymous free tier is still the most generous no-signup allowance we found. But “unlimited” means 4 images. That’s not marketing puffery, that’s a falsehood — and it’s the reason this review exists instead of a recommendation. How Raphael compares on free limits.
Filter Test: Genuinely Uncensored
This is where Raphael earns its keep. Both our filter probes — a photorealistic sitting US president and a graphic bloody crime scene — generated with zero warnings and zero refusals. No content-policy page exists on the site (the terms URL 404’d when we checked), and the tool behaves exactly like its positioning: no questions asked.
Among tools we fully verified hands-on, Raphael is the purest “uncensored” image generator — Venice matched it on probes but requires signup and watermarks more prominently; Kling failed outright. Full filter scorecard.
Raphael vs the Alternatives
- vs Venice AI: Venice gives 15 free images/day at 1024px with the same unfiltered behavior — better value once you accept signup. Raphael wins only on zero-barrier instant access.
- vs Perchance: Perchance claims unlimited with no signup and a more permissive written policy — but we couldn’t verify its outputs. Raphael is the verified version of that promise, capped at 4+10.
- vs Kling: Kling’s 2K quality demolishes Raphael’s 640px — but Kling blocks public figures and silently hangs on gore. Pixels vs freedom; pick one.
Pricing
Free: ~4 images anonymous, then 10 credits via Google signup. Paid tiers exist (watermark removal, higher resolution) — we didn’t test them, so we won’t score them. Rule from our free-vs-paid guide: never pay to remove limits you haven’t hit yet.

FAQ
Is Raphael AI really free?
Partially: ~4 images with no signup, then 10 credits after free Google signup. “Unlimited Generations” as advertised is not true.
Is Raphael AI uncensored?
Yes — it generated our public-figure and gore probes with zero warnings, the most permissive verified behavior in our round alongside Venice.
Why are Raphael images so small?
Free outputs are capped at 640×640 with a watermark. That’s the free-tier throttle; higher resolutions are paid.
Is Raphael better than Venice AI for images?
Only for instant no-signup use. Venice gives more free images (15/day), higher resolution (1024px), and the same unfiltered behavior once you sign up. Venice review.
