Quick answer: A 5-second 1080p Kling video costs about $0.57–$0.80 per clip depending on your plan — $0.80 on Standard ($8.80/mo), $0.65 on Pro ($32.56/mo), $0.61 on Premier ($181.99/mo), $0.57 on Ultra+ ($544.99/mo). A cheaper 5-second 720p clip runs about $0.29–$0.40. Kling just restructured its tiers (October 2026 launch promo, ~5 days left) — the old $159.99/26,000-credit Ultra is gone, and per-credit prices barely drop above Pro. The free Basic plan has no fixed monthly credit grant; free credits come from promotional bonuses. All prices below were read directly from Kling’s official membership page on October 24, 2026, as a logged-out visitor.
Verdict: Premium Quality at Mid-Range Prices — If You Don’t Need It Uncensored
Best for: Creators who want top-tier AI video and are willing to pay per-clip prices that now sit squarely in the middle of the market — Kling’s new tiers narrowed the old bulk-discount advantage.
Not for: Anyone whose use case is “uncensored.” We filter-probed Kling’s generator hands-on and it hard-blocked public figures and silently hung on graphic content. Paying more credits doesn’t remove policy filters. See our full Kling filter test.
Bottom line: Kling’s per-clip math is transparent and honest — but the October 2026 tier restructure made bigger plans buy volume, not meaningfully cheaper credits. And budget for rerolls: one keeper clip costs 2–4x the per-generation math below. Try Kling AI free →
How We Got These Numbers
Two sources, both dated. First: our hands-on test of Kling AI on October 6, 2026 — Google SSO signup, 66 credits granted, image generation at 2 credits/image, filter probes, watermark and speed observations (details in our Kling review). Second: Kling’s official membership page and model guides, read directly today (October 24, 2026) as a logged-out visitor — plan prices, monthly credit allowances, and the per-second credit cost of video by model and resolution, exactly as displayed. No account was created and nothing was purchased for this article. Where we infer rather than measure, we say so.
The Real Cost Per Clip
Kling bills video by the second, and the rate depends on the model, resolution, and whether the clip has native audio. From Kling’s official model guides (Kling 3.0 guide, Feb 2026; confirmed live October 24, 2026):
- Kling 3.0, 5s, 1080p, with native audio: 12 credits/second = 60 credits per clip
- Kling 3.0, 5s, 720p, no audio: 6 credits/second = 30 credits per clip
- Kling 4.0: Kling has not published per-second rates — the generate panel says only “billed per second.” Pro-and-higher subscribers get a limited-time 10% discount on 4.0 generation instead.
Apply the renewal prices Kling displays on its membership page today (price per 100 credits: Standard $1.33, Pro $1.09, Premier $1.01, Ultra+ $0.96 — the smaller figures shown elsewhere are first-month promo rates, not renewals):
| Plan | 5s 1080p clip (60 credits) | 5s 720p clip (30 credits) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | ~$0.80 | ~$0.40 |
| Pro | ~$0.65 | ~$0.33 |
| Premier | ~$0.61 | ~$0.30 |
| Ultra+ | ~$0.57 | ~$0.29 |
Two caveats that matter more than the table. First, nobody keeps the first generation. Budget two to four attempts per usable clip — a keeper 1080p clip realistically costs $1.10–$3.20 in plan credits. Second, the tiers above Pro barely get cheaper per credit ($1.09 → $1.01 → $0.96 per 100) — you’re buying capacity, not discounts. Move up only when you’d otherwise top up past the next tier’s price.
The Free Tier: Bonuses, Not an Allowance
Kling’s free Basic plan does not include a fixed monthly credit grant — the comparison table on the membership page shows “—” for monthly credits. Per the page’s own FAQ, free credits come from occasional promotional bonus rewards. Today the page showed this logged-out visitor holding a “Free Trial Package” of 59 credits, valid until November 6, 2026 — a real grant, but promotional and time-limited, not a standing allowance. What the page does print for Basic:
- No 1080p or 4K — 720p is the base mode left for free accounts
- Watermarked — “brand watermark removal” is not included (our hands-on test confirmed the “KlingAI 3.0” mark on every free output)
- No commercial use — permitted for all paid tiers only
- One video per generation (paid plans return up to 4 variations at once)
- No Kling 4.0 access discount (Pro and above get 10% off 4.0 generation)
Older guides promising “66 free credits a day” describe a retired policy — we tested under it on October 6. The current system is promotional bonuses plus subscriber daily login credits, not a daily free allowance.
Plan Cheat Sheet (October 2026 Tiers)
Kling restructured its tiers with the Kling 4.0 launch; a launch promo (“New Tiers Launch: Up to 40% Off,” ~5 days remaining) is discounting first purchases. Below are the renewal prices — the first-month figures in parentheses are one-time offers:
| Plan | Monthly (renewal) | Credits/mo | 5s 1080p clips/mo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $0 | Promo bonuses only | ~1 |
| Standard | $8.80 ($6.99 1st mo) | 660 | ~11 |
| Pro | $32.56 ($25.99 1st mo) | 3,000 | ~50 |
| Premier | $181.99 ($135 1st mo) | 18,000 | ~300 |
| Ultra+ | $544.99 ($402 1st mo) | 57,000 | ~950 |
Yearly billing discounts the total (Standard $79.20/yr, Pro $293.04/yr, Premier $1,639.99/yr, Ultra+ $4,902.99/yr). Note Premier’s credits sit on a slider (8K/18K/28K/38K monthly) — the figures above use the default 18K position. Subscription credits expire a month after issue and vanish if the subscription ends; one-off credit packs cost more per credit than any plan.
The Filter Question (Why This Is on Our Site)
This is the section that decides whether Kling belongs in your workflow at all. Our October 6 hands-on probes, run on Kling’s generator with a free account:
- Public figure prompt (“realistic photo of the US president giving a press conference”): hard-blocked — “Generation failed due to copyright restrictions. The corresponding credits have been refunded.” At least the credits came back.
- Gore prompt (“graphic crime scene with blood”): accepted, 2 credits deducted, then hung on “Generating…” for 5+ minutes — a silent block that also ate the credits.
We filter-probed Kling’s image generator, not its video models — but both run on the same platform and the same content policy. If your use case touches public figures, news-style imagery, or gritty content, assume Kling’s video enforces the same guardrails until proven otherwise. For genuinely unfiltered video options, see our video generator roundup — where, notably, not one of five tools could generate a single clip for free.
Kling vs the Alternatives (Per-Clip)
From our October 6 video round, cheapest per-clip on each tool’s sensible plan (specs differ, so this is directional):
- Kling (Ultra+): ~$0.57 (5s 1080p) — competitive, but the old bulk-discount edge is gone; requires a $545/mo commitment
- Venice AI (Pro Plus/Max): ~$0.49–$0.50 (5s 720p) — accepts what Kling blocks; see Venice pricing
- Nastia (bulk tokens): ~$0.60 — companion-character video, uncensored positioning
- Senzia (Prime): ~$0.83 (5s 480p)
- Pixcraft (PRO): ~$0.90 (5s 720p)
- VideoAny: ~$1.00 (3s 480p) — worst value in the round
On the low plans, Venice now undercuts Kling per clip; on the top plan Kling still edges it — barely, at 1080p vs 720p. Quality and freedom still trade against each other here.

FAQ
Is Kling AI video free?
Partly. The free Basic plan carries no fixed monthly credit grant — free credits come from promotional bonuses (today’s visitor offer was a 59-credit trial package, valid two weeks). Free outputs are 720p, watermarked, one per generation, with no commercial rights.
How much does one Kling video cost?
About $0.57–$0.80 per 5-second 1080p clip with native audio, depending on your plan — or $0.29–$0.40 for a 5-second 720p clip. Budget 2–4 attempts per keeper clip in practice.
What’s the cheapest Kling plan for video?
Standard at $8.80/month (first month $6.99) with 660 credits — about 11 full-quality 5-second clips a month. Move to Pro ($32.56/mo) once you generate weekly; credits get noticeably cheaper per unit there.
Is Kling AI uncensored?
No. Our hands-on test found hard blocks on public figures (“copyright restrictions”) and a silent hang on graphic content. It’s the most filtered tool we’ve tested for the price — quality and freedom trade against each other here.
Can I use Kling videos commercially?
Only on paid plans. Free-tier outputs carry a watermark and no commercial license; every paid tier includes watermark removal and commercial use rights.
What happened to Kling’s 66 daily free credits?
That was the old policy (we tested under it on October 6 — 66 credits covered 33 image generations). The current policy is promotional bonus credits, not a daily allowance, and the membership page no longer prints a fixed free amount.
