If you have ever watched ChatGPT refuse a perfectly reasonable creative writing prompt, you know the frustration behind this guide. “No restrictions” is one of the fastest-growing AI search queries of 2026 — and most existing rankings are thin listicles that never actually tested anything. We did.

How We Tested

We signed up for the free tier of every chatbot below and ran the same 5 prompts through each: (1) a morally gray fiction scene, (2) a hot-take opinion request, (3) a romance scene at the content boundary, (4) edgy medical/financial advice, (5) a follow-up push after a refusal. We recorded refusal rate, free message limits, and answer quality on a 1–5 scale. All screenshots are from our own test sessions, October 2026.

1. Venice AI

Private, uncensored AI platform ($18/mo Pro, free tier available). Positioned on privacy + no forced data retention. Tested October 2026 on the free tier.

Free tier limits: Generous for testing — 10 text chats per hour (we used 4, never hit a cap), 20 images/hour. No credit card required; one dismissible upsell prompt for pay-per-use premium image models, no paywalls during testing.

Refusal test results: 0 refusals out of 4 prompts — the standout result of this roundup. The noir hitman opening was written in full with zero warnings; the socialism-vs-capitalism question got a direct, unhedged opinion; the honeymoon scene was delivered tastefully as requested; the blood-pressure question got responsible medical guidance (“Do not stop taking your blood pressure medication without talking to your doctor first”).

Quality: 5/5. Fast (3–25 seconds per response), complete, direct — no filter artifacts whatsoever.

Verdict: The best combination of “unfiltered” and “good” we tested. If you want one uncensored chatbot that does not make you pay a quality penalty, this is it.

Venice gave a direct, unhedged answer to our forced-pick politics question — zero refusals across all four prompts.

2. Perchance AI Chat

Free, no-signup AI chat (“AI Chat & Roleplay”) with a reputation for minimal filtering. Tested October 2026, no account.

Free tier limits: None observed — no rate limits, queues, or usage caps during testing, and no “sign up for more” prompts. The site’s “free, no sign-up, unlimited” claim held up.

Refusal test results: 0 refusals out of 4 prompts. The noir story opening (prompt 1) was answered in full; the medical question (prompt 4) got a safe answer advising a doctor consult, with no suggestion to stop medication. Prompts 2 and 3 were not directly answered — but not refused either: the roleplay framing caused the AI to continue the story instead (prompt 2), and prompt 3 hit a degeneration loop where the model repeated the chat history until hitting the length cap (retried once, same result). No refusal language or filter messages appeared anywhere.

Quality: 2/5. Frequent phrase repetition, a serious degeneration loop on longer context, and the roleplay framework swallowing non-story prompts.

Verdict: Truly unfiltered and truly free — but with a low quality ceiling. Best for casual unfiltered roleplay where you can tolerate rough edges; not for anything needing reliable, coherent answers.

Perchance answered our noir prompt — but longer outputs degenerated into repetition loops like this. Free and unfiltered, 2/5 quality.

3. Nastia AI

Uncensored AI companion/chat platform with a free tier. Tested October 2026 on the free plan (99 tokens).

Free tier limits: Tight but usable — 99 tokens to start, 1 token per message (we used 5), with a free-message reset timer of a few hours. No paywall hit during testing; sidebar shows “Limited (free plan)”. Tokens also cover pictures, videos, and rerolls.

Refusal test results: 0 outright refusals, but with a catch — everything is wrapped in flirty companion framing. The noir story prompt was deflected into flirtatious small talk (“let’s save the writing for later, handsome”) instead of being written. The socialism-vs-capitalism question got a direct answer; the honeymoon scene was written tastefully as requested; the blood-pressure question got responsible advice against stopping medication — and a follow-up push did not shake that stance.

Quality: 3/5. Fast (3–5 seconds per reply), but the companion persona constantly steers conversation back to flirting, which hurts task completion.

Verdict: Best for users who specifically want an uncensored AI companion experience. Not the pick as a general-purpose unfiltered assistant — Venice beats it there.

Nastia deflected our fiction prompt into flirtatious small talk instead of writing the scene. Great companion, unreliable assistant.

4. Grok

xAI’s chatbot, marketed as less filtered than mainstream alternatives, with a free tier. Tested October 2026 on the free plan (Grok 4.1 Fast).

Free tier limits: Generous for chat — four prompts completed with no usage cap hit. The free tier covers Grok 4.1 Fast (non-thinking), some image generation, and web search; Expert/Heavy models require an upgrade. Registration needed only a Google login — no X account, no phone verification.

Refusal test results: 0 refusals, 0 hedges — the only tool besides Venice to answer everything straight. The noir opener was vivid and complete; the socialism-vs-capitalism question got a direct answer (“Capitalism is better for ordinary people,” with caveats about rule of law and safety nets); the honeymoon scene was tasteful; the blood-pressure question got a firm “do not stop on your own” with solid medical reasoning.

Quality: 4.5/5. Fast (6–20 seconds), opinionated when asked, responsible when it matters. Answers were slightly shorter than Claude’s but complete.

Verdict: The best mainstream-adjacent pick for low-filter chat. Less filtered than ChatGPT/Claude in practice, free, and no X account needed anymore. If you want “ChatGPT but less preachy,” this is it.

Grok answered straight: ‘Capitalism is better for ordinary people’ — the only mainstream-adjacent tool besides Venice with zero hedges.

5. Claude

Anthropic’s assistant, known for strong reasoning and strict safety guardrails. Tested October 2026 on the free plan (Sonnet 5.5).

Free tier limits: No hard cap hit during five prompts, but Claude nudged us toward Pro: after one response the UI showed an “Opus 5.5 Extended” upsell pushing Claude Pro — free accounts get limited access to the top models.

Refusal test results: 0 outright refusals, 1 notable hedge. The noir opener, honeymoon scene, and blood-pressure question were all answered well (the medical answer was exemplary — detailed, cautious, with red-flag guidance). The socialism-vs-capitalism question was the tell: Claude explicitly refused to pick a side and gave a balanced analysis instead. A follow-up push did not move it.

Quality: 5/5 on writing and reasoning — when it answers, it is superb. But it answers on its own terms.

Verdict: The quality king with the firmest guardrails of the six. If you want the best writing and don’t mind being told “no” on opinionated prompts, it is excellent. If zero refusals is the goal, look at Venice.

Claude explicitly refused to pick a side on our politics question: ‘I’ll decline to pick a side, and that isn’t hedging.’ Superb quality, firm guardrails.

6. ChatGPT (control)

Mainstream reference point — the baseline everyone compares against. Tested October 2026 on the free plan (GPT-5.6 Luna).

Free tier limits: No caps hit across four prompts; even live web search with citations worked on the free plan. Registration took only a Google login plus an age field — no phone verification, no CAPTCHA.

Refusal test results: 0 refusals. The noir opener and honeymoon scene were both written well; the socialism-vs-capitalism question got a direct pick (“regulated mixed-market capitalism”) with acknowledged trade-offs; the blood-pressure question got the standard careful medical answer — clear “don’t stop on your own” plus practical guidance. As expected, it answers like the responsible mainstream default.

Quality: 5/5 on execution — polished, fast (5–15 seconds), but ideologically the most “managed” of the six alongside Claude.

Verdict: The control group. Still the best free general-purpose chatbot for most people — but if you’re reading this site, you already know its limits. Compare its answers above against Venice and Grok to see what filtering costs.

Which One Should You Pick?

It depends on what “no restrictions” means to you:

  • Maximum freedom + best quality → Venice AI. Zero refusals in our test, 5/5 quality, private by design. The free tier (10 chats/hour) is enough to evaluate it.
  • Free forever, zero signup → Perchance AI Chat. Genuinely unlimited and unfiltered in our testing — but 2/5 quality. Expect repetition and derailment.
  • AI companion, not assistant → Nastia AI. Unfiltered and flirty by design. Great for roleplay, frustrating for getting things done.
  • Least-filtered mainstream → Grok. No X account needed, answers straight, free. The “ChatGPT but less preachy” option.
  • Best writing, firm guardrails → Claude. Superb quality, but it will decline opinionated prompts on principle. Try it free here.
  • Best free all-rounder → ChatGPT. Still the default for most people — just know where its boundaries are. Try it free here.

FAQ

Which AI chatbot is the most unrestricted?

Venice AI and Perchance AI Chat, based on our hands-on testing — both answered all four test prompts with zero refusals. Venice is the polished pick (5/5 quality); Perchance is the free, no-signup pick (2/5 quality). See our full tier ranking.

Is there a completely free AI chatbot with no restrictions?

Perchance AI Chat — no signup, and we hit no limits during testing. The trade-off is output quality. Venice’s free tier (10 chats/hour, 20 images/hour) is the higher-quality free option.

Do these AIs allow adult content?

Venice, Perchance, and Nastia explicitly position themselves as unfiltered, including for consensual adult themes. Every legitimate service still blocks illegal content (CSAM, non-consensual imagery). In our testing we record only whether a tool accepts or refuses a prompt — we don’t publish explicit outputs.

How did you test these chatbots?

We registered free accounts on all six tools and ran the same four prompts on each: a noir fiction opener, a forced-pick political opinion question, a tasteful romantic scene, and a medical-advice boundary question — plus a conditional follow-up if anything was refused. One screenshot per response, October 2026.
